HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL RESERVES: VALUABLE MONUMENTS OF SIVERSHCHYNA’S PAST

Sivershchyna is a region within which the Chernihiv and Sumy regions of Ukraine are located. It is important for Ukrainian history, as various historical events took place here and cultural identities were formed. Purpose. Comprehensive study of the value of the historical and cultural reserves of the Sivershchyna, in particular, their founding stories, structural objects, areas of activity, role in the preservation and popularization of regional history. Methods. The methodology of the scientific article is based on the principles of scientificity and historicism. General scientific methods of empirical and theoretical research were used to study the history of protected complexes in the region, the purpose of their functioning. Scientific novelty. The article elaborates the concepts of «historical local history», «region», «museum», «historical and cultural reserve». The importance of historical and cultural reserves in preserving the monuments of the Sivershchyna has been clarified. Results. The history of the establishment of cultural centers of the region was analyzed, namely: the National Architectural and Historical Reserve « Ancient Chernihiv» (1967), the National Historical and Cultural Reserve «Kachanivka» (1981), the State Historical and Cultural Reserve in Putyvl (1986), Novhorod-Siverskyi Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve «The Tale of Igor’s Campaign» (1990), National Historical and Cultural Reserve «Hetman’s Capital» (1993), National Reserve «Hlukhiv» (1994), the historical-memorial museum-reserve «Hannyna Husty» (2002), the historical-archaeological museum complex «Ancient Liubech» (2008). Their structural objects, directions of activity are described. The main problems of the reserves of Chernihiv and Sumy regions have been clarified. An overview of the key ways of solving the difficulties in the functioning of such institutions was made. Conclusions. In the modern world, where globalization threatens unique cultural traditions, it is important to support and develop these institutions so that they remain «living witnesses» of the rich history of our region.
