OLEKSANDR DOVZHENKO AS THE FOUNDER OF THE POETIC CINEMA NARRATIVE: AESTHETICS, INNOVATION, AND CULTURAL CONTEXT

Abstract

The article reveals the multifaceted creative path of Oleksandr Dovzhenko as an outstanding artist who organically combined the achievements of world civilization and his native people in his works. Purpose: to explore the creative work of Oleksandr Dovzhenko as the founder of the genre of poetic film narrative, to reveal the aesthetic features of his creative style, to analyze the innovative approaches to cinema that he introduced, and to determine his role in shaping the cultural context of Ukraine and world cinema. Methods: analysis, synthesis, chronological, historical-biographical methods were used to solve the purpose of the article. Scientific novelty. The publication comprehensively analyzes the work of O. Dovzhenko as a unique phenomenon of world culture, combining aesthetic depth, moral ideals and artistic innovations. The research opens new perspectives for understanding the film story as a genre that synthesizes literary and cinematographic traditions, affirming spiritual values and national identity. Results. The multifaceted talent of Oleksandr Dovzhenko, who organically combined the best assets of world culture and the Ukrainian people in his work, is revealed. Summarized his artistic credo, which was based on the desire to find truth through beauty, which became decisive in his aesthetic philosophy. Dovzhenko’s innovative approaches to cinema are characterized the introduction of the film story genre and the use of film metaphors to express ideas. The impact of his creative legacy, which became a kind of chronicle of the era and a source of inspiration for many generations of artists, was noted. Conclusions. As a result of the conducted research, it was established that the peculiarities of the poetics of O. Dovzhenko’s film stories are characterized by metaphorization with psychological content, which performs an expressive function and reflects the author’s personal attitude. A characteristic feature of the style is large-scale and emotionally saturated hyperbole. Great importance is attached to artistic detail, which reveals the ideological and thematic content of the works. Thanks to these techniques, O. Dovzhenko created highly artistic works at the intersection of literature and cinema.
